If you've been diagnosed with the travel bug, but you're broke...
Mini Trips are perfect because you can have a good time without sacrificing time off of work, you can keep it to a wide range of budget constraints and have a good time without jeopardizing your financial wellness. Of course, money spent is money spent, so this is not something I could do every weekend, but it is something that can be enjoyed monthly or every other month.
A Dream Vacation: Solo Travel to Spain
When I was around eight years old, my mom went on a “girls’ trip” cruise. She always loved travel, but this is the first one I remember distinctly. When she was gone, she sent back picturesque postcards from all the places she docked at. She wrote letters to my sister and me and left red kiss marks on each postcard. A spark lit up inside me. I wanted to be her when I grew up. Around the same time, I watched Cheetah Girls 2 when they went to Barcelona. That was the birth of my dream trip. The Ultimate Trip. Barcelona, Spain. After I graduated college and got my first “big girl job,” I booked a solo 10-day Spain trip during Act-Up Season (A.K.A., my birthday month.) It was everything I dreamed of and more.
The Bahamas
The weather was stunning, balmy, sunny, blue skies and so warm, but not too hot. The sand was off-white smooth to touch and got everywhere, and the water was so very blue. The kind of blue that was in your face and obvious and got darker as it went further out. (I always thought it was edited into certain photos to look that blue--I was wrong. ) The Bahamas was a fun adventure and I am for sure going back.
Wanderlust
Wanderlust could be us just tricking ourselves into dreaming all day everyday of a different place and time that will never come if we don't stop dreaming and start living.
